Lightning started a small forest fire in Northern California on July 4. The Forest Service watched it, letting it burn. It wasn’t a threat to nearby communities. Resources were already thin, so larger fires took priority.
It burned quietly for two weeks. Around July 16, it blew up overnight, becoming a wildfire. They have now evacuated several communities.
